Description

A very nice hand-made Damascus dagger. The 5 1/2 inch (135 mm) blade is deeply etched and has a stunning pattern. This blade is a true Damascus blade and is constructed of folded layers of steel. The blade will probably have a mix of nickel, and various types of carbon steel that have been folded to create the pattern, visible once the blade is etched.
There are various types of Damascus steel, clearly, some are more valuable than others, particularly where specific patterns are created.

The Damascus used in the creation of this piece is of a more generic design and is incredibly detailed. The deep choil enhances the depth of the centre grind of the blade.

The brass cross-guard is a tombstone design backed with a brass retainer. The dark wooden handle is capped with a matching brass butt.

This Hand-Made Damascus Dagger is supplied with a “Boot knife” hand made, hand stitched dark tan coloured sheath with a spring boot clip attached.

This is a pre-owned knife in very good clean condition. There is no evidence showing the knife has been used or carried and there are no signs of it having been sharpened since it was originally produced.

Firstly, for details on Damascus steel production and what to look for Wikipedia has a lot of information. Secondly, please have a look at this incredibly informative blog. The blog includes some great information regarding Damascus and how it is made. The blog also discusses “printed” Damascus and how to tell the difference between printed and true welded Damascus steel.
