Description
Dark Brown Glass Bird Eyes. A single colour iris with a black pupil on wire.
The wire diameter is approximately 1-1.5mm in diameter depending on the diameter of the eye being selected.
The diameter of the eye is measured at the widest point and is accurate to +/- 2% as a general estimate. These eyes are handmade, they are not cast and are sold in pairs.
All eyes on wire allow the artist to cut the wire to the desired length. This could be to remove the wire completely, to allow for a closer fit perhaps. The wire can be left longer for ease of handling, or to allow the wire to be made into a loop on the back. Looping thin wires should only be done to aid a physical fixing such as clay, glue or putty. Thinner wires tend to be quite brittle where they enter the back of the eye. Other eye styles that already have loops manufactured on the back of the eye are more suitable and are in fact designed to be sewn in place.
This style of eye can be used in many different applications. Probably many more than we have listed here.

Fixing
Eyes of all kinds can be fitted in many different ways. If the eye is to be fitted into a wood substrate (stick making, carving or similar) then a glue such as a two part epoxy glue can be used. If somethingĀ with a bit more body is required clay can be used or an epoxy putty can be used such as Apoxie Sculpt.
Apoxie Sculpt is a superb medium for all types of bedding and bonding.
