Description
The Boker Applegate–Fairbairn Combat knife is a combat knife designed by Colonel Rex Applegate and William E. Fairbairn as a version of the Fairbairn–Sykes fighting knife used by British special forces.
The Applegates blade has a similar double-edged dagger profile, it’s wider and more durable. This version is shorter than the original and features a concave back blade. This is Based on a spear design from an ancient Japanese era. The design produces a small light boot knife.
Boker’s reissue of the Applegate-Fairbairn Fighting knife uses the fiberglass-reinforced Delrin handle, thickened in the centre for a sure grip. A lanyard hole adds convenience. The result of this design is the perfect fusion of form and function. The centre swell handle merges with the forward formed cross guard that is formed to protect the fingers. The knife design produces an adjustable rear weighted system. An incredibly ergonomic design. The handles can be taken apart easily to access the lead weights which are removable.
The blade is produced from Solingen 440C stainless steel hardened to a Rockwell 58, the signatures of Rex Applegate and W.E. Fairbairn are etched into the bead-blasted finish. Boker were handed the designs for the Applegate and Fairbairn famous combat knife. Boker stayed true to the original design, stringently following the original specifications deviating slightly to include modern materials and production techniques.
