A Rare opportunity to acquire a knife from the legendary Alan Wood Knifemaker
The awesome reputation of the custom knife maker that is Alan Wood is second to none. He has been making knives professionally in the UK since 1985; his passion beginning at the age of 11 having seen the film about the legend Jim Bowie and the large knife he carried – his ‘Iron Mistress’.
Alan’s designs are in great demand as a custom knife maker.
He has links with the Woodlore knife now taken as THE knife for actual Bushcraft use, by Ray Mears. Ray wanted a British handmade knife specifically designed for Bushcraft. Alan made a prototype and Ray fed back minor tweaks and the Woodlore knife was born – the rest as they say, is history!
Ray and Alan’s Woodlore design is much copied all over the world now by both custom and mass production knife makers.
This is a very fine example of an early Alan Wood sheath knife, it has a full tang blade with red liners and horn on lays, the blade size is 17cm with an overall length of 2cm. It is complemented with a hand stitched leather belt sheath. The lanyard hole provides additional security when fitted with a lanyard and sheathed in the hand.
A beautiful example and a fine & rare collector’s item, perfectly balanced for those who demand quality in everyday life.
A Pre-Owned knife: Part of a private collection small signs of wear (possibly storage & inspection) to the sheath but no sign of use or sharpening to the blade.
